a work-at-home wife's journey within the four walls called HOME

My show

Working long hours doesn’t guarantee that I am saved from managing the house and doing the chores at the same time. For all you know, I am doing a one-woman show here at home from cleaning to doing the laundry, to cooking and doing the yard work. I can see my late mother in me! The only difference is, she keeps her cool despite of all the things that she does for us. I don’t have patience to bear all those things at times especially when I am swamped with work. With everything going around, I cannot even find to do regular deep cleaning. I have to schedule it or do it when the need arises and before I do general cleaning, I want my green cleaning products to be complete before I start. I hope I could find a way to make things easier to do (without hiring a househelp). Wish there is to lighten my load.

My little helper

It’s a working weekend once again. I thought it’s gonna be work-free but for the life of me, I slack on my tasks during weekdays so I am now doing post marathon. Since our youngest is not here, nobody’s gonna help me with chores, and the one-woman show is back again! Thanks to Ella (my 7-year-old niece) who gives me a hand when she’s here during afternoons after her class. She usually sweeps the floor without me asking for her to do it. She even makes our bed after our afternoon nap and put things in place. If she sees unwashed utensils in the sink, before I could tell her to leave it there, she is already washing it. Though I don’t allow her to wash dishes, she would insist on doing those small pieces. She even wants to help me in cooking which I don’t allow because she’s too young for it. But she helps in preparing the ingredients and most of all, sets the table. I love how Ella sets the table. The table setting is complete with a glass of water on the side which I don’t normally do. Nice training! It’s not too early for her because we’ve been trained to help in the house at that age. I remember we have a rotational schedule in washing the dishes before.
